Costs: The Clickimin from 9 to 5 Sat and Sunday and the Boating Club Sat and Sunday night is a significant cost and to cover this a fee of £35 is being asked from all the fencers from Shetalnd and visiting clubs. Bank details: Shetland Fencing Club sort 87 34 51 A/c No – 86377868 See also t shirts below.
Food Sat and Sunday nights As discussed at meetings we are to provide food for the Sat and Sunday nights at the Boating Club. The idea is for some of us to cook a big dish of some sort and this can be heated up at the Boating Club kitchen. If you can help, Could you contact me with suggestions of what you could do, and then we can plan out a menu and quantities etc. So far we have a big meat chilli and a veg chilli.
Volunteers We will need some voulunteers who can help out both during the day, and before the Boating Club nights, preparing food etc. Please get in touch and we can organise what's best.
Summer Camp t-shirts An ex fencer of ours who is a graphic designer has kindly designed and donated a logo for t shirts for our summer camp. With printing costs, this makes a t-shirt £15. They are avilable in pink (or white if you really must). I shall put the logo on emails and whatsapp so you can see that. Please let me know as soon as possible a size and colour, as I will need to order these very soon. We will also likely make another order after the event.
Thanks to Mhairi Eilidh and Matthew for organising a very successful Quix Night. It raised approx £600. Along with funding from Shetland wide Community Sports Hubs, we are close to reaching our targe to get some up to date scoring equipment to better establish our series of Shetland Competitions.
The epee competition and prizegiving is being moved to early next season Aug/Sept as there are folk away and it is v close to our Summer Camp. Dates will be posted nearer the time.
Last club sessions for the summer are: Gibby Thurs June 20th and Brae Sat June 15th
We will contunue to follow closely our inclusive policy of providing kit to anyone who needs it for however long so that cost is never a barrier to fencing. However, as more fencers are now well established as regulars, it is a good idea to think about getting your own kit. Changes in regulations and design have also made providing club kit to many is more demanding. We are happy to provide jackets etc to younger fencers who are growing quickly. Masks and weapons are items that don't get grown out of and this is where I suggest most pressure can be taken off club kit. I have made suggestions in our kit page click here and please let me know for advice and any club discount. I will be placing an order soon so we get any kit before the Summer Camp.
This is a very friendly Senior Open competition open to over 13 year olds. I have spoken to quite a few fencers already about this and there is info and a provisional group list here
I shall put the results and photos up the website in a day or so. Please keep an eye on the website regularly as this is where all info and dates etc are posted.
