Happy New Year
News Date: 07/01/2021
A happy new year to all of our very patient fencers and families.
Clearly we are not where we want to be after our start back before Christmas. I have taken a little time to check the situation we are in. Being in Tier 3, but with the schools closed, puts us in a confusing position, but I have consulted with Council sport and education staff and agreed to respect the guidance that we should not offer any fencing activities until the beginning of February, (or when the schools go back / Tier status allows).
At least we have been able to get a lot of our fencers kit to take home with them, and the orders for new kit have been coming in as stocks return. We will certainly be in a good place when we finally get going again. For fencers we didn’t see before Christmas, please let us know how you are doing and if you need any advice on kit or anything at all.
At this time of the year, we should all be raring to go and get some exercise, especially with all that’s happened so far.
I will get on to making some video clips this weekend based on what we were doing just before Christmas and tty to suggest some activities which will keep the fencing brain and muscles fresh and give you a few things to aim for and to make it easier to get into a routine again. I’ll try to get them out as private youtube links by email and WhatsApp so watch out for messages.
Anyone fancy some cycling?
Do you have a bike, any sort of bike?
Yes, I know its January, but as a club we could try to get out on our bikes and if there are enough wanting to join in, I could set up a group of us on the Lovetoride app, which can record distances on your phone and be shared amongst the group. Let me know, the app also works with strava if anyone uses that.
Watch out for the training routines and I’ll try to update news on another restart to fencing as things change.
